Who We Are

Lake Litter Clean-up Club was created last summer as a way local residents can get involved in their community in a safe and healthy way. I came up with the idea after my volunteering was cancelled due to the pandemic. With the help of several volunteers, we managed to clean up different streams and ponds throughout the region. As well, we connected with amazing people from Lindsay who shared our passion for the environment and we joined them in cleaning a stream that had been overrun with garbage and needles. Vision: To make our community a safe and healthy place to live in while building the character of our volunteers. Mission: To ensure our community stays clean and litter-free We are also on Instagram at Lakelittercleanupclub

What We Do

Lake Litter Clean-up Club has weekly outings that consist of cleaning areas that have been overrun by litter. This can include returning to the same spot several times. We have kept the group small to ensure we are not breaking Covid-19 regulations. With just a few pick-up sticks and garbage bags, we have completely transformed some areas. Such as behind Oshawa City Hall, before Lake Litter Clean-up Club the area was overrun with garbage and drug paraphernalia. Following local health guidelines, we collected well over a dozen needles and worked with the city to remove large debris that we were not able to move.
