Description

Purpose:
To sort through clothing and other items donated to the Bethesda House's Second Chance gently-used and new clothing store, setting aside unusable items and preparing the remaining items to sell.

Responsibilities:
- Accept items being donated according to store/shelter policy
- Sort items for sale, storage or other use according to Second Chance policies and procedures following health and safety guidelines
- Label and store items not yet for sale
- Prepare clothing for sale in the store
- Use clothes washer and dryer safely and appropriately
- Keep sorting and other work areas clean and tidy
- Work as part of a professional team alongside other store volunteers and Bethesda House staff

Qualifications:
Ability to distinguish items that are in good condition from items that are not, attention to detail, ability to move reasonably-sized boxes and bags of donations, dependability, ability to understand directions in English, willingness to learn and accept supervision and direction. Willingness to accept and work with people of diverse backgrounds.

Training for this position will be provided and support will always be available throughout.

Dress Code:
Casual and comfortable, appropriate for work to be completed. Flat, closed-toes shoes.

100% of proceeds from our store directly benefit Bethesda House and it's outreach programs.
