Who We Are

We are a non-profit agency providing shelter and outreach services to victims of violence. As a funraising iniative we have a charity store conveniently located in historic downtown Bowmanville. Second Chance accepts new and gently used clothing donations. The store is staffed by volunteers which allows 100% of the proceeds from the sales at the store to go directly to support the cost of providing Bethesda House services.

What We Do

Since its inception in 1992, Bethesda House in partnership with our diverse community, has evolved from a small shelter for abused women and their children to a well-known and respected agency providing a comprehensive system of professional supports to diverse individuals dealing with all types of abuse and gender-based violence including, but not limited to, domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, familial abuse, cultural violence and elder abuse.
